We were invited to Borde Hill at the weekend and with the sun shining, it was a great time to visit.
At the moment, they have an event from now until 28th March called Wellbeing Welly Walk. We have done many of these trails as they are great for everyone. They get us adults out walking whilst admiring the beautiful flowers and plants around, whilst the children are running around looking for their next clue on the trail. This time, the girls were given a trail booklet and had to look for wellies hanging in the trees, gathering letters to make a word. Once done, they were able to collect a prize, which was a lovely gift. (I won’t say what it is in case you would like it as a surprise). As this is a wellness themed walk, each welly we found had a yoga move for you to try! We had a giggle trying some of these!! (Keep an eye out for future trails at Easter and Halloween for example, always slightly different and the kids just love them).
The gardens at Borde Hill now have Spring flowers in bloom. Ranging from Daffodils, snowdrops, magnolias and hellebores- they are all such beautiful bright colours for you to see. The views are also fantastic - from one area you can see across to the viaduct. There is a beautiful Elizabethan house for you to admire and with 200 acres of land, its a great place to get out and get walking too. There is also a woodland area, it is closed right now, but usually you can venture off into the woods too.
The Gardeners Retreat cafe is open and of course it would be rude to walk past and not have something. We all opted for hot chocolates and they were very tasty indeed!
The gift shop was open for plant sales only due to current rules.
The adventure playground was open much to the girls delight!! It is a great area for them, with swings, slide, climbing frames, wobbly bridges and a zip line!! It’s located near the entrance/exit, so we always leave this until the end as a great way to finish!
So if you are wondering where to go for a walk, explore, and to enjoy a local day out in Sussex then we would certainly recommend Borde Hill.
