If you have been to Florida before, you may remember Cypress Gardens. Its going back a few years now. I remember it well as its where my parents were married. Well…this is now the home to Legoland Florida Resort. Legoland opened in 2011 and then along came their hotel in 2015. I am sad to say I have yet to check out Legoland Florida, but I sure will. Its on my list for our next visit over there – especially having two girls that fit into the right age group for this park. I have been to Legoland Windsor a few times, so I am sure it will have the same vibe (if not better knowing what the USA parks are like).
Where is it?
It is around 45 minutes to an hour’s drive away in Winter Haven. You do need to make your own way there – whether you drive or use an UBER as they no longer have a round trip transportation service. UBER is around $40 each way.
Ticket types:
In the UK there are 4 ticket options to choose from. All you need to decide is 1 or 2 days, waterpark or no waterpark. They are:
LEGOLAND® Florida One Day Ticket - One full day's admission to LEGOLAND® Florida park
LEGOLAND® Florida Two Day Ticket - Two visits to LEGOLAND® Florida within a 14 day period
LEGOLAND® Florida One Day Water Park Combo Ticket - 2 days admission to both LEGOLAND® Florida and LEGOLAND® Florida Water Park within a 14 day period
LEGOLAND® Florida Two Day Water Park Combo Ticket - 2 days admission to both LEGOLAND® Florida and LEGOLAND® Florida Water Park within a 14 day period
All the above are open dated so that you do not have to commit to the day you wish to start using them. For the two-day tickets, once the tickets are used the first time, you then need to use your 2nd visit within the 14 day window.
Also, the child age is 3-12. (Whereas Disney/Universal/SeaWorld are 3-9).
What is included?
Legoland is usually open 10-5 (though of course do check directly) but being that it is the biggest Legoland in the world, with over 50 rides, shows and attractions to do, there is a lot to keep you busy. The park is very much aimed at children aged 2-12, so therefore its great that they get to do pretty much everything. Of course, some come with height restrictions, but the younger ones that cannot do the bigger rides, they get their own smaller rides to do instead. The park comprises of 10 themed lands with attractions in each such as:
The LEGO® MOVIE™ Masters of Flight – a flying theatre attraction transporting riders all over THE LEGO® MOVIE™ universe.
The Great LEGO® Race - roller coaster thrills combined with virtual reality aboard LEGO-built vehicles, in the centre of an action-packed road rally against pirates, wizards and more!
LEGO® NINJAGO™ The Ride - Blast animated fireballs, lightning and more as you defeat the villains– keeping track of your score to see if you can beat your friends and family.
The Quest for CHI - an interactive, family-friendly water ride, amidst dramatic landscapes and the magical waters flowing from Mount Cavora.
Ford Driving School - Kids will learn the rules of the road and earn their own LEGOLAND® Driver's license in this free-wheeling driving attraction.
Fun Town Fire Academy – Jump aboard your own fire truck with your family to compete against others. The first engine to make it down the tracks, put the fire out and make it back to the starting line wins.
The Dragon - An indoor/outdoor steel roller coaster within the Legoland Castle.
Pirates' Cove – be sure to watch this breath-taking live stunt show on the lake.
AQUAZONE Wave Racers - miniature speed boats where riders surf the waves and dodge the jets of water too.
And of course, MINILAND USA - 32 million LEGO bricks create amazing scenes such as California, Las Vegas, and New York City!
The Legoland waterpark is open seasonally so be sure to check the calendar for open/closed days. It is located within the Legoland park for easy access. There is not a waterpark only ticket. It is only sold in conjunction with a Legoland admission ticket due to its location. A few attractions to mention are:
Twin Chasers – ride tubes 375 feet down an intertwining pair of enclosed water slides before plunging into a refreshing pool below.
Splash Out – The thrill seekers of the family can ascend to the tallest point of the water park attraction and choose from one of three unique slides, then speed down a 60-foot drop and “splash out” into the water below.
Joker Soaker - A fun, interactive playground with various lengths, heights and types of slides that offer something different for every member of the family. Guests can wade in the surrounding pool and be surprised with a torrential spill from a 300-gallon bucket.
Build-A-Raft River - Families can imagine, design and build a unique LEGO vessel and set afloat on a maiden voyage around the 1000-foot-long lazy river, set amongst playful LEGO Friends, flowering vegetation and palm trees.
DUPLO® Splash Safari – Toddlers will rule at this water play area with shorter slides and interactive, larger-than-life DUPLO creatures.
LEGO Wave Pool where the waves are just big enough for all ages to enjoy.
What is not included?
Obviously on the one- and two-day tickets the water park is not included unless you purchase the combo tickets.
Parking is roughly $23 per car.
Towels at the waterpark are not included and not available to hire so ensure you take your own.
You can hire cabanas in the waterpark for an additional cost.
Locker rental at the water park is from $10.
Where to book:
I would highly recommend booking with AttractionTickets.com for quite a few and important reasons.
1 – They are the UKs number 1 ticket reseller.
2 – They are bound by ABTA which is always good to know, especially when booking hotels and tickets together.
3 – They have won multiple awards in the travel industry such as Travolution Awards and British Travel Awards numerous times. Recently they also won Travolution’s Brand of the Year for 2020.
4 – Founded in 2002 and served well over 4 million customers, with a high repeat business rate that is always reassuring.
5 – Can pay with a deposit to secure your tickets and then pay off your balance online as you wish up until the balance due date – great for spreading out the cost of those tickets!
6 – Real tickets are sent to you. Not vouchers that you will need to queue up and exchange at the park gates on arrival (this can be anywhere up to an hour to do so). Legoland is a downloadable confirmation for you to print and take with you. It will have the gate ready bar code on there at the ready.
7 – Always cheaper to pre buy in the UK vs single day tickets when in Florida.
8 – The team are very friendly and full of so much knowledge, you will feel rest assured you are booking the right tickets and in safe hands!
