What a day! We went to @chessingtonworldofadventures in October 2020 and had such a fantastic time.
First of all, let’s talk Covid impact at Chessington World of Adventures. They work so hard to keep everything clean and safe. There are hand sanitiser stations everywhere and there are bright signs around the park to tell you when to wear a mask, safety guidelines etc. Every so often, the rides were cleaned and sent round empty as they did so. I was very impressed by all this. A couple of attractions were closed but with so much to do, this did not make a difference to our day. On arrival, there was a queue for bag check, then our temperature was taken, we scanned the code on NHS app, scanned the tickets for entry and then we were in.
We did around 12 rides as well as stopping at various animal exhibits. Our favourite attractions were Gruffalo ride, Room on the Broom and Vampire.
Gruffalo replaced the bubble works a couple years ago now but it’s a great indoor boat ride that takes you on the Gruffalo story journey. You’ll meet mouse, owl, snake and of course Gruffalo as you move along. We did this ride a couple of times as Katie loved it so much!
Room on the Broom was a walk through experience of the story with interaction areas as you go. The mirror maze at the end was very funny! The queue was a little longer than usual, around an hour, but this is because they send each family around on their own as opposed to small groups.
Bethany was tall enough to do the Vampire ride this time. A hanging coaster ride! Clearly a little thrill seeker in the making (like me!!).
Scorpion Express I must mention. Its a forgotten ride as its a little tucked away, but the whole family were able to board the runaway train and we all had such a giggle on it.
We ate in the Vampire Burger Kitchen this time. They have limited the seating area so that the tables are more spread out. We went early, around 1130 and were fine, but as we left people were waiting for tables. There were many take away spots for foods and of course you can take own picnic too.
The SEA LIFE is also at Chessington. Its a small exhibit, but was still lovely to stop inside to see the aquariums. Katie really enjoyed this as its a great sensory experience for the younger ones.
One thing to mention, don't be put off by the queue times. We found that they were often advertised as much longer than they were. I guess with the social distancing in queue line and the temporary closure when they send rides around empty when they clean, they are not sure on the exact time frames, but we were pleasantly surprised that all the queues we joined were shorter.
It was an amazing day out and a big well done to @chessingtonworldofadventures - we felt safe, as clean as we could (plus of course my anti bas gel goes everywhere with us), and we had a great time. It was lovely to take the girls on a 'normal' as can be day out.
